MIT’s Cords UIs. Or how to renew with a desperatly ageing UX

The MIT has been working on their project called Cords UI which aims at bringing interaction points through the medium  of cords and cable.

In the picture above, sufficient pressure applied on the charger’s cable sets the computer on hibernation mode. Well the MIT explores 4 more ways to interact with electric objets and their cable, providing new ways to turn on a lamp, gradually increase its intensity or start playing your music by pinching the audio cable.
